According to the definition of the W.H.O. (World Health Organization), iodine deficiency is defined as an iodine intake of less than 150 µg iodide per day. In Germany, the daily intake of iodine (even when iodized salt, sea fish and meat are included in the diet) is below an average less than 150 µg/day!
