Welcome to the Gene Expression and Signal Transduction Laboratory
Gerald Thiel gained his PhD from the University of Göttingen, Germany, and carried out his graduate work at the Department of Clinical Biochemistry with Hans-Dieter Söling. He did his postdoctoral training at The Rockefeller University, New York, with Paul Greengard and at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, with Thomas C. Südhof. In 1991 he became Asssistant Professor for Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience at The Rockefeller University, New York. In 1992, he was appointed Bayer International Investigator and Head of Lab at the Cologne Institute for Genetics. Since 1997, he has been Professor of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Saarland Medical Center.
