Heterogeneity of monocytes in subjects who undergo elective coronary angiography – The Homburg evaluation

Inclusion Criteria:

Patients undergoing elective coronary angiography

Exclusion Criteria:

Missing baseline data / coronary angiography cancelled

Cooperation Partners:

Prof. Dr. Michael Böhm, Dr. Bodo Cremers / Prof. Dr. Bruno Scheller, Klinik für Innere Medizin III, Universitätsklinikum des Saarlandes

Baseline Parameters:

Traditional cardiovascular risk factors
Parameters of calcium-phosphate metabolism
Left-ventricular function by ventriculography (analysed in 1001 participants)
Ultrasound renal resistive indices (analysed in ~500 participants)
Cell counts of monocyte subsets (analysed in 951 participants)

Number of Participants:

1368 Participants recruited at baseline
32 Participants excluded at baseline because of missing data and / or cancelled coronary angiography

Combined primary outcome:

First acute myocardial infarction; ischemic stroke (symptoms ≥ 24 hours); cardiovascular death

Combined secondary outcome:

Any cardiovascular event (acute myocardial infarction; surgical or interventional coronary / cerebrovascular / peripheral-arterial revascularization; stroke [symptoms ≥ 24 hours]; amputation above the ankle; death)

Tertiary outcome:

Overall survival
