Application - 13 PhD-Studentships available (application periode is over)

Only complete applications which have arrived at the coordination office by January 13th 2012 can be considered for admission. Admission is only possible to the 10-week qualification period, not directly to the PhD program.

All applications are reviewed by a separate admission committee that determines whether or not an interview is indicated. This assessment is based on the applicant's research experience, letters of recommendation, academic performance, and evidence for a commitment to research. If an interview is warranted, the applicant is notified by the coordination office and the interview date, schedule and overnight accommodations are arranged. Promising candidates will be notified within five weeks (February 11th) after the application deadline with regard to their participation in the qualifying segment (see program). The program processes all applications without delay. Please refrain from inquiries regarding the status of your application.

Applicants must hold a Master`s degree (or equivalent) in biosciences, pharmacy, physics, (bio-) chemistry or related fields. Proficiency in the English language is required. Applicants whose native language is not English and who have not studied for at least two years at a university where English is the primary language of instruction are required to present evidence of proficiency in English (toefl certificate is recommended). Applicants are requested to send their application to the contact address (see below) including a cover letter indicating their preferred research topic, the completed application form, CV with picture, officially translated university certificates (diploma, master or equivalent), a brief summary of previous research experiences, as well as 2 letters of recommendation.

Only complete applications can be considered for admission. Note, for electronic submission it is required that all attached documents are included in a single PDF-document. The Saarland University is an equal opportunities employer. In accordance with its policy of increasing the proportion of women in this type of employment, the University actively encourages applications from women.
